Underwater Intervention 2020 — Commercial Diving Tracks

By Steve Pratt And Steve Struble

The Commercial Diving Track at UI 2020 is starting to resemble the glory days, as the downturn not only affected our industry but also our international trade show. As you will see in this and future issues of Underwater Magazine, as the industry is rebounding back, so is our show. Underwater Intervention 2020 is already shaping up to be a great show. The commercial diving tracks are starting to fill up already with some interesting technical presentations. If you have an interesting and or challenging project, medical updates, innovative product or something that you want to share with the Subsea industry, please contact Steve Pratt at spratt@jfbrennan.com. Another exciting area that we want to share is some of our tentative workshops to be held.

  • Underwater Bridge Inspection Course
  • Drysuit Maintenance
  • Chamber BIBS Certification reports

These workshops are tentative, as we continue to work out the details and when they will be scheduled. Some of the workshops will be held on Monday prior to UI while others will be held that entire week and others on Thursday. Some of these workshops will require participants to pre-register, as a fee is involved with them.

The Chamber BIBS Certification Course, I believe, is something that can hold great value for many companies. We all send our helmets off to have the annual inspection performed by a certified technician. But how many of us have certified technicians working on our BIBS? This workshop is attentively scheduled for Monday Feb 3, 2020, and will cover Amron 350M and 450M BIBS Mask Repair Technician Course. This interactive course includes instruction on Amron’s recommended disassembly and reassembly procedures of the 350M and 450M BIBS Mask and preventive care procedures.

Course topics include:

  • Overview of the mask
  • Recommended tools, lubricants, and cleaners
  • General care
  • Disassembly procedures
  • Assembly procedures
  • Service log

Duration of class: 4 hours

In the afternoon we will have the AVOX Pressur Vak II™ BIBS Mask Repair Technician Course.

This hands-on course includes instruction on the manufacturer’s recommended preventive care, disassembly and reassembly procedures for the AVOX Pressur Vak II™ BIBS Masks.

Course topics include:

  • Overview of the mask
  • Recommended tools, lubricants, and cleaners
  • General care
  • Disassembly procedures
  • Assembly procedures
  • Service log

Duration of class: 3 hours

We are working on Special Show pricing for these certifications and class size will be limited so please do not delay in pre-registering for this workshop when registration opens.

Please stay tune and check our website for the show special courses as we continue to build UI 2020 January 28-30, 2020.
